It’s 2023! Time to Take the Paper-Light Approach!

It’s 2023! Time to Take the Paper-Light Approach!

Going paper-light should be the obvious choice for everyone however it stands to reason that going totally paperless is not feasible for many companies.

It’s high time our busy offices take responsibility for the substantial amount of paper used and look at ways to reduce it. Or go paper light, as is the trend to call it nowadays. And what better way to do this than sit down and look into the stats of our paper-hungry behaviour?

Going back to 2020 when our employee headcount was around the 800 mark, out of which 271 employees had printer access, our usage for the whole year totaled a whopping… 465,654 papers averaging 581 papers per year per employee!

Then 2021 rolled around which was when most of our workforce returned to the office. A considerable rise in numbers was expected. So without further ado… the grand total for papers printed in 2021 was… wait for it…

648,907 papers! Talk about a busy year for our stumpy friend in the corner!

The departments that printed the most were: Quality Assurance, HR, Finance, and Revenue Accounting so we worked with these departments to find procedures or systems we can take on board for a greener workplace.

And as alarming as these stats are, without any effort from our side, they can not start to decrease. As of October 2022, we adopted the changes necessary to become a more eco-conscious team! And as of now from October to December 2022 the total number of printed pages stands at 17,510!

Going paper-light should be the obvious choice for everyone however it stands to reason that going totally paperless is not feasible for many companies. Industries are very much paper reliant and it takes a whole lot of time and effort to switch to paperless. Yet, the goal still remains: create a shift in our paper-loving habits because we believe that a lot of people doing it imperfectly is much better than a few doing it perfectly.

Celebrating 30 Years of Excellence

Celebrating 30 Years of Excellence

On Thursday 24th October 2019, Centrecom celebrated its 30 years’ anniversary amongst distinguished guests.

In 1989, the Australian Company World Aviation Group managed by Maltese-Australian aviation veteran Leslie A. Cassar AM MOM KSJ, partnered with Air Malta, whose Chairman was the late Mr Albert Mizzi MOM OBE, forming the Joint Venture company known today as Centrecom; a successful joint venture partnership between Air Malta plc. and Cassar Aviation pty ltd.

On Thursday 24th October 2019, Centrecom celebrated its 30 years’ anniversary amongst distinguished guests, including The Hon Prime Minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat, its client partners, suppliers and colleagues. Mr Robert Spiteri, Group General Manager for Centrecom ltd, in his opening address explained that “it has been a long, successful journey” where the company has grown not only in the number of employees, but also in its service offering.

The experience and knowledge acquired from working with different industries over the past 30 years allow Centrecom to deliver a high-quality added-value service to all their Clients.

When the company first set up shop in 1989, the World Aviation Systems’ office in Republic Street Valletta had 10 employees providing Airline Representation Services. Over the years, the company represented over 15 Airlines, among which were British Airways, Qantas, and SN Brussels.

In 2006, the company moved its operation to the Old Airport Terminal and founded the first Call Centre in Malta servicing a number of Airline companies, including Air Malta. A year later, Centrecom began its first Back Office service, by providing Revenue Accounting and Billing Services to both Airline and non-Airline organisations. As of 2010, Centrecom extended its Call Centre Services to other industries such as Financial, Government, Travel, Classifieds, e-Commerce and iGaming, and today in less than 10 years, the company has established an extensive service portfolio including Omni-Channel Contact Centre services available 24/7 in 15+ languages providing customer service via telephone, emails, chat, social media, and even face-to-face, as well as other Back Office services, such as Document Management, Data Inputting, Payroll Services, Concierge Services, Crisis and Disruption Management Services and more.

The key elements to a successful company are its employees, its quality of service excellence and its reliability.

Seeing the company’s journey on a video showcased in commemoration of these 30 years, Mr Cassar – Managing Director and Co-Founder for Centrecom, stated that he was reminded of “the dedication, commitment and loyalty of the team in building this Centre of Excellence.” Over the years, Centrecom not only extended its service portfolio, but also its workforce. When the company moved to its new offices located at the Mosta Technopark in June 2018, they were employing over 185 personnel. Today, one year later, the team has grown to 460 locally employed personnel, a record growth in workforce which The Hon Prime Minister himself commended when he addressed the audience.

Mr Cassar, also thanked the Joint Venture partners, Air Malta plc and recognised the key role the organisation has played in Centrecom’s success. Air Malta’s work and efforts in making this Joint Venture a success was also commented upon by the Hon Konrad Mizzi, Ministry of Tourism who stated that “Air Malta will continue to be committed to Centrecom’s goal” in ensuring that both local and foreign companies, government and private ones, can continue to benefit from Centrecom’s quality services.

During the 30th Anniversary Celebration, Centrecom thanked its client partners for their trust in their services and promised to continue working to deliver a service of excellence that fulfils its Clients’ needs today, and exceeds their expectations for tomorrow through an innovative ICT infrastructure and modus operandi which puts Centrecom at the forefront of the industry.

Customer Experience is our Priority

Customer Experience is our Priority

Centrecom takes a Customer-Centric approach in everything that it does.

In an interview with Martin Vella, from the Malta Independent, Robert Spiteri, General Manager for Centrecom, speaks about how the Company takes a Customer-Centric approach in everything that it does.

How do you describe CENTRECOM’s business today and how do you define the CENTRECOM advantage?

Today, Centrecom offers its clients and partners, and their customers with an added value service.  This is primarily defined by the fact that we are not just a Business Process Outsourcing provider, but irrespective of the service offering, whether its Call Centre Services, Back Office functions, Document Management Services, or Airline Representation (GSAs) and Revenue Accounting, we ensure that a partnership is built with all our clients by providing them with efficient and effective results, backed up by innovative solutions and rewarding recommendations.  This entire package is what makes CENTRECOM and it is what defines us from other Business Process Outsourcers.

How important is innovation at CENTRECOM and where is innovation taking place for the company?

Innovation is a key factor in our strategy – it allows us to attract new businesses, strengthens our current contracts with our clients, and most importantly innovation contributes to our economic growth.  For 2019, the company is planning to innovate both in terms of technology as well as its service portfolio.  As we hold vast knowledge across the different sectors, we are currently planning to establish our own Training Academy which will allow us to not only train externally but also ensure that the training we deliver is qualified and accredited.

From a Technology point of view, we have just invested in a new Call Centre Platform which allows us to cater for any contact made between our Clients’ customers and our Customer Service Agents (CSAs), irrespective of the contact channel, to be handled through one system – this will the ensure that message is delivered in a consistent and balanced approach across the inter-linked channels, and the customer is then provided with the same message in the channel they choose. This boosts the feel of familiarity with the brand, builds a healthy rapport with the customers, and allows for a more detailed and accurate analysis of the performance across all channels.

Another plan which is in the pipeline for 2019 is embracing the new innovative technology of Artificial Intelligence, robotics and Chatbots – this will not only ensure we are one step ahead, but will also broaden our service offering.

Where do you see the greatest opportunities for growth for CENTRECOM?

The greatest opportunities currently lie in the new emerging industry which is the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Industry.  With the evolvement of the Blockchain and Crypto industries, we understand that most companies will be setting up shop in Malta and taking advantage of the regulatory framework that the Maltese Government is creating together with the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA).  Following this process, companies will be looking at setting up and managing their operations, and this is where Centrecom comes in.  We believe that with our expertise in B2B and B2C Customer support, we can help businesses in this industry to strengthen their brand and customer service further.

How do you define CENTRECOM’s target market?

As a Business Process Outsourcer, we do not take on whatever comes in our way – on the other hand we are very selective in choosing clients that we can build a partnership with.  While the size of the project or the industry is not a determining factor, we target those companies that are looking to outsource part of their operation because they want to achieve our same goal – that is of delivering an efficient service to customers that it always abreast of the latest technologies and industry requirements.

CENTRECOM has made great strides under your leadership. Do you take time to reflect and celebrate the wins (tell us about your latest award recognition) or are you always looking at what is next?

A key Ingredient for a successful business is teamwork and in fact we invest a lot in our team.   Over the past several years, our organization made great strides, earning a reputation for innovation and excellence in the customer care outsourcing industry thanks to the dedication, commitment and experienced skillset of our team.  At Centrecom we strongly believe that the team will function better and will achieve more success in their work, if we work together.  Lately we have been recognized by Malta’s Best in Business Awards for having the Best Product and Customer Service.  This award is the result of our team’s dedication in making Centrecom a success story. Our goal is to provide our Clients with a unique service: by merging together the Clients’ passion and energy in the field, together with our passion for Customer Service, we are able to deliver the Best Product and Customer Service Offering.   Such awards and recognitions are beneficial to motivate our team.   But it doesn’t stop here….we are constantly exploring avenues on how we can improve our service delivery both to our clients and most importantly their customers.

Irrespective of the service offered to our Clients; the Customer, the end User, is always our key priority. We become the eyes, the ears and the mouth of the Customer, and in this way we continuously focus on delivering a service that exceeds our Clients and their customers’ expectations.  By becoming an extension of our Clients’, we not only become experts in our Clients’ field, but because we take a customer-centric approach, we shift our focus on continuously providing an added value service to our Clients’ Customers.
