In 1989, the Australian Company World Aviation Group managed by Maltese-Australian aviation veteran Leslie A. Cassar AM MOM KSJ, partnered with Air Malta, whose Chairman was the late Mr Albert Mizzi MOM OBE, forming the Joint Venture company known today as Centrecom; a successful joint venture partnership between Air Malta plc. and Cassar Aviation pty ltd.

 

On Thursday 24th October 2019, Centrecom celebrated its 30 years’ anniversary amongst distinguished guests, including The Hon Prime Minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat, its client partners, suppliers and colleagues. Mr Robert Spiteri, Group General Manager for Centrecom ltd, in his opening address explained that “it has been a long, successful journey” where the company has grown not only in the number of employees, but also in its service offering.

 

The experience and knowledge acquired from working with different industries over the past 30 years allow Centrecom to deliver a high-quality added-value service to all their Clients.

 

When the company first set up shop in 1989, the World Aviation Systems’ office in Republic Street Valletta had 10 employees providing Airline Representation Services. Over the years, the company represented over 15 Airlines, among which were British Airways, Qantas, and SN Brussels.

 

In 2006, the company moved its operation to the Old Airport Terminal and founded the first Call Centre in Malta servicing a number of Airline companies, including Air Malta. A year later, Centrecom began its first Back Office service, by providing Revenue Accounting and Billing Services to both Airline and non-Airline organisations. As of 2010, Centrecom extended its Call Centre Services to other industries such as Financial, Government, Travel, Classifieds, e-Commerce and iGaming, and today in less than 10 years, the company has established an extensive service portfolio including Omni-Channel Contact Centre services available 24/7 in 15+ languages providing customer service via telephone, emails, chat, social media, and even face-to-face, as well as other Back Office services, such as Document Management, Data Inputting, Payroll Services, Concierge Services, Crisis and Disruption Management Services and more.

 

The key elements to a successful company are its employees, its quality of service excellence and its reliability.

 

Seeing the company’s journey on a video showcased in commemoration of these 30 years, Mr Cassar – Managing Director and Co-Founder for Centrecom, stated that he was reminded of “the dedication, commitment and loyalty of the team in building this Centre of Excellence.” Over the years, Centrecom not only extended its service portfolio, but also its workforce. When the company moved to its new offices located at the Mosta Technopark in June 2018, they were employing over 185 personnel. Today, one year later, the team has grown to 460 locally employed personnel, a record growth in workforce which The Hon Prime Minister himself commended when he addressed the audience.

 

Mr Cassar, also thanked the Joint Venture partners, Air Malta plc and recognised the key role the organisation has played in Centrecom’s success. Air Malta’s work and efforts in making this Joint Venture a success was also commented upon by the Hon Konrad Mizzi, Ministry of Tourism who stated that “Air Malta will continue to be committed to Centrecom’s goal” in ensuring that both local and foreign companies, government and private ones, can continue to benefit from Centrecom’s quality services.

 

During the 30th Anniversary Celebration, Centrecom thanked its client partners for their trust in their services and promised to continue working to deliver a service of excellence that fulfils its Clients’ needs today, and exceeds their expectations for tomorrow through an innovative ICT infrastructure and modus operandi which puts Centrecom at the forefront of the industry.
