Centrecom, has a robust infrastructure in place to support its operations. After years of experience, a solid system was built based on the latest technology in communications, customer relationship management and business intelligence. All adopted systems and technologies serve to provide an exceptional customer experience. The IT professionals, together with external consultants have developed a strategic roadmap that aligns the IT strategy and investments to business priorities.
To ensure a robust uninterrupted level of service, Centrecom has connectivity with the different telecommunication suppliers in each respective country allowing a 99% uptime that is achieved through there several fibre connections coming from different locations. This ensures that if aconnection is lost, a back-up connection is used. Since service availability is at heart, Centrecom has also invested in a redundant microwave link that can be used in case of failure in the primary and secondary connections.
The network infrastructure is designed to ensure security, performance, and availability. Best practice standards are in place to ascertain that networks are appropriately segregated through different VLANs. Firewalls are also in place to prevent unauthorised users from accessing the internal networks connected to the internet. Centrecom works with a third-party IT company to monitor the integrity of the infrastructure. As part of the main infrastructure Centrecom also invested in a wireless infrastructure system which allows for separate SSIDs operating from separate internet connections. One SSID is intended for internal use while another one is specifically dedicated to visitors.
The multiple server rooms are highly secured and only accessible by the ICT team. For increased security, the rooms are accessible through access cards and a combination key lock. Each ICT member has a unique code to access the rooms. All equipment including servers, storage and network infrastructure are located within these rooms. The server rooms are, monitored through CCTV, fully air-conditioned, temperature-controlled and have all the required fire safety requirements. To ensure 24/7 uninterrupted power supply, Centrecom have invested in UPSs and a generator to make up for any power outages.
Centrecom operates within a Microsoft Windows environment. Servers are typically deployed in a virtual hosting environment with the latest Windows Server operating system. Virtualisation provides standard and efficient management to host other business applications. Every person accessing the system shall have personal credentials. Group Policy objects are in place to restrict and secure the environment to ensure that data is not extracted from the systems.
An internal file server system has been designed to provide users with a secure store for data and files. This investment ensures a centralised secure method of storing data rather than having staff storing data on their local drive. The file system combines disk mirroring and disk striping to ensure that no data is lost even when there is a hard disk failure. All the data is backed up on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
